Description:Carboard box with mounted colour plate and stamped 'Number 12' on lid of the box, 32,5 x 26 x 3,5 cms., containing a book: 'Colour is optics': 88, (1) pp. with colour illustrations, catalogue of books, biography, this copy being stamp-numbered '12' and signed by Krasik and authors on last page; an artist's book titled 'Mikhail Karasik: geometry + colour', housed in cardboard wrappers, published in conjunction with the exhibition 'Mikhail Karasik: Colour is Optics' presented at Van Abbemuseum, 2015, consisting of cloth-covered cardboard wrappers in 4 colours, 22,1 x 28,9 cms., containing 6 folded leaves protected by translucent leaves, of which one colage: original colour collage by Valida Delakroa (late 1920s-early 1930s) numbered '12', monogrammed in red pencil on blank verso and 5 folded full-page autolithographs by Karasik, each 21,6 x 57 cms., each signed, numbered '12/17' and dated '2015' in pencil, each titled in pen on blank verso, executed in various colours, printed on 'BFK-Rives Cream Paper', signed by the artist and publishers on first transparent protective leaf enclosed in collage.
Note:Artist's book kept together with 2 black ribbons. Published in an edition of 500 copies of which 17 are numbered and signed. Designed by Mikhail Karasik. Born in 1953, *Mikhail Karasik is an artist, publisher, curator of numerous exhibitions of book art, as well as the author of books and articles on the history of the Soviet photobook and the Russian avantgarde culture of the early twentieth century. Karasik is one of the leading creators of artists' books in Russia and internationally. His works are held in the collections of major museums and libraries including the Russian State Museum, the State Tretyakov Gallery, the Centre Pompidou, the British Library, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Gutenberg-Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Library of Congress, the Getty Research Institute and the Art Institute of Chicago. Karasik lives at Saint Petersburg.
