Enno Develing, Dutch writer (of an unchaste book sometimes, like this one) and curator at Haags Gemeentemuseum at The Hague organized the first European exhibition on Minimal Art which was later presented in Berlin and Dusseldorf. With this show and his writings he made a significant contribution to the reception of Minimal Art in Europe. Repeated references are made to it in later writing on Minimal Art. Develing ascribes major social and philosophical values to this art, which he portrays as 'anti-hierarchic', 'anti-rational' and 'anti-individualistic'. Between 1968 and 1970 he picked up i.a. Lawrence Weiner, Robert Morris, Carl Andre (solo exhibition), Sol LeWitt (solo exhibition), Robert Smithson and Dan Flavin to the Netherlands - The Hague and became friends with LeWitt and Andre.
